Autonomous Agentic Frameworks for Enterprise Service Operations and Intelligent Process Automation
Abstract
Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) extends Business Process Automation (BPA) toward Human Resource Automation (HRA). Within Intelligent Process Automation, levels of Human Resource Autonomy (HRA) grow from Human Resource Assistance (HRA) through Human Resource Agent (HRA) toward Human Resource Agency (HRA). Furthermore, combinations of such systems support Human Resource Operations (HRO) within Enterprise Service Operations (ESO). Human Resource Agency represents the limit of Human Resource Autonomy in Intelligent Process Automation but is not the only approach to Intelligent Process Automation. Human Resource Agency for Intelligent Process Automation presents the intersection point for autonomy, service, and operability. Human Resource Autonomy represents the evolving digital workforce within an evolving digital enterprise ecosystem. Agentic Human Resource conduct simple and repeatable tasks while Human Resource Autonomy engages in more complex processes involving decision making, collaboration, and communication. Human Resource Autonomy capability and service requirement reach beyond single-business-unit-adapting agents toward enterprise service operations — the service delivery units of the enterprise. Human Resource Autonomy and enabling Enterprise Service Operations have not yet been synthesized. Gap analysis identifies the need to model a framework for integrating the requirements and capabilities of Agent-Based Systems and Enterprise Service Operations from an Intelligent Process Automation perspective
