Causal AI Decision Intelligence for Real-Time Optimization of Complex Cloud Enterprise Operational Systems
Abstract
Complex cloud enterprise operational systems generate enormous volumes of heterogeneous data from applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, security platforms, and business processes. Conventional artificial intelligence and machine-learning approaches can identify correlations and predict operational events, but they often provide limited understanding of the causal mechanisms underlying system behavior. This limitation can result in ineffective or inappropriate operational decisions when multiple variables interact dynamically. This study proposes a Causal AI Decision Intelligence framework for real-time optimization of complex cloud enterprise operational systems. The proposed approach integrates causal discovery, causal inference, counterfactual reasoning, real-time observability, predictive analytics, multi-objective optimization, and automated cloud orchestration. Operational telemetry is transformed into causal representations that enable the framework to estimate the likely consequences of alternative interventions before they are executed. The decision layer evaluates competing actions according to performance, availability, cost, resource utilization, reliability, and service-level objectives. A closed-loop architecture continuously observes system behavior, evaluates causal relationships, selects optimized interventions, and learns from their outcomes. The methodology is designed to improve decision accuracy, reduce operational latency, minimize unnecessary resource consumption, and support proactive management of cloud workloads. The proposed framework provides a foundation for explainable and adaptive enterprise cloud operations in which AI moves beyond correlation-based prediction toward intervention-aware decision-making.
