Retrieval-Augmented Generative AI for Cloud-Based API Intelligence and Enterprise Knowledge Management

Abstract

Retrieval-Augmented Generative AI (RAG) has emerged as a promising approach for improving enterprise intelligence by combining large language models with organization-specific knowledge repositories. This paper presents a cloud-based RAG framework for API intelligence and enterprise knowledge management that integrates semantic retrieval, API metadata, technical documentation, operational records, and enterprise knowledge sources into a unified intelligent architecture. The proposed framework addresses limitations of conventional generative AI systems, including knowledge gaps, outdated information, hallucinated responses, and difficulties in accessing distributed enterprise documentation. The architecture uses document ingestion, preprocessing, embedding generation, vector indexing, metadata management, semantic retrieval, contextual prompt construction, and large language model generation to provide grounded responses to enterprise queries. API intelligence capabilities enable organizations to understand API specifications, dependencies, endpoints, authentication mechanisms, usage patterns, errors, and operational relationships through natural-language interaction. The methodology emphasizes secure cloud deployment, access control, knowledge governance, retrieval accuracy, response relevance, and explainability. The framework can support developers, administrators, security teams, business analysts, and knowledge workers by reducing manual information discovery and improving decision-making efficiency. The proposed approach demonstrates how RAG can transform fragmented enterprise information into an intelligent, searchable, contextual, and continuously maintainable knowledge environment.
